Tarawih ki Rakaten gathers the hadiths bearing on how many rakats the tarawih prayer is, each printed in Arabic with its full reference. It separates the narrations that record the Prophet praying tarawih without giving a number from the one that states twenty explicitly.
Five pages, and almost all of them are hadith text with its reference underneath. The question in the heading is asked neutrally, how many rakʿahs is tarāwīḥ, and the answer is assembled rather than asserted.
What makes it useful is that it separates two kinds of narration and says which is which as it goes. The first is the well-known report of ʿĀʾishah in Bukhārī, where the Prophet ﷺ went out on successive nights and prayed and men prayed with him, until on the fourth night the mosque could not hold the people, and he explained afterwards that he had feared it would be made obligatory upon them. Of that one he notes plainly: the number is not mentioned in it.
Against that he sets the narration that does state a number: Ibn ʿAbbās, through Miqsam, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray twenty rakʿahs and the witr in Ramadan, with its two references given in full, Muṣannaf Ibn Abī Shaybah and al-Ṭabarānī’s al-Kabīr, down to the volume, page and number.
Every reference in the piece is printed that way, which is what makes it a working sheet rather than an argument: a reader can check each one where it stands.
