The Pashto edition of Al-Sharh al-Thamiri, a four-volume commentary on the Mukhtasar of al-Quduri that gives three hadiths for every ruling. The whole apparatus is carried over: the translation of each ruling, its evidence from reason and from transmission, the principle it rests on, and the positions of the other imams.

The Pashto edition of Al-Sharh al-Thamiri, the four-volume commentary on the Mukhtasar of Abu’l-Husayn al-Quduri that answers the standing objection to Hanafi fiqh, that its rulings stand behind no evidence, by putting three hadiths under every ruling.

It is a translation of the whole book and not of its rulings alone. The twelve-point list of features stands at the front of each volume in Pashto, and it is the same list: every ruling set out separately and numbered so it can be found; a plain-speech translation of each one; its reason given both from reason and from transmission; a store of hadiths beneath it; the principle it rests on named; difficult words examined under lughat; the disagreements of the imams put briefly under fawa’id; and hard questions explained under tashrih. The endorsements are translated too: Mawlana Nasir Ahmad, Shaykh al-Hadith of Darul Uloom Deoband, writing in March 2003, and Mufti Muhammad Zafeeruddin, its Mufti and the compiler of its Fatawa.

The four volumes divide the Mukhtasar exactly as the Urdu does: Kitab al-Taharah to Kitab al-Hajj; Kitab al-Buyu’ to Kitab al-Musaqat; Kitab al-Nikah to Kitab al-Ashribah; and Kitab al-Sayd wa’l-Dhaba’ih to Kitab al-Fara’id.
