Tuhfat al-Tulaba is a two-part Urdu commentary on Safinat al-Bulagha: Marghub Ahmad Lajpuri wrote the first part and Samiruddin Qasmi completed the second.
Tuhfat al-Tulaba is the complete two-part Urdu commentary on Safinat al-Bulagha. Mawlana Marghub Ahmad Lajpuri wrote the first part; Mawlana Samiruddin Qasmi wrote the second. The title page states that division plainly, and both are credited as authors of the commentary.
The book is made for students reading the Arabic primer. It explains its discussions of faṣāḥah and balāghah, the sciences of meanings, expression and rhetorical figures, and then prosody and rhyme. Questions and exercises run through the commentary, so the work is not only a translation of the matn but a course built around it.
The preface records how the work became a joint one. After the first commentator’s teaching was interrupted, Samiruddin Qasmi sought and received permission to finish the remaining portion. His part was completed on 20 Rabi al-Awwal 1415 AH, corresponding to 28 August 1994. This complete setting was issued by Maktaba Thamir, Manchester.
